Mrs. Brown's second grade enrichment class walked through downtown New Egypt learning about New Egypt's history. The tour was guided by Mrs. Reed of the New Egypt Historical Society. She highlighted historical places about which the students are creating Google slide presentations. We were kindly escorted by DWES teacher Mrs. LoPresti, and Officer James Tillett of the Plumsted Police Department.

Mrs. Brown's fourth grade enrichment class has been working on a Green Challenge to help make their community a "greener" place. The "Green Kids" group of Jack H., Julian C., Isabella M. and Miranda R. presented Mr. Christopher Nevers and Ms. Janet Lewis from New Egypt Marketplace with reusable bags for their customers. The students raised the money for the bags from the Backpack Boutique school store that they operate during lunch periods. These students also shared a Google slide presentation and an Animoto video about the project with their guests.

Letter from the Principal

Welcome to the Dr. Gerald H. Woehr Elementary School. Many factors go into providing students with the superior education they will receive at Dr. Gerald H. Woehr Elementary School. Teachers and staff are committed to creating and maintaining a safe learning environment for all students. Together, we work every day to provide students with a positive, caring school climate and culture to enable them to blossom intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
At Dr. Gerald H. Woehr Elementary School, teachers are committed to helping every child maximize his or her potential. Technology is incorporated into the learning process and teachers focus on expanding student's creativity to  help them solve real world problems. By focusing on the child as a whole, teachers are helping students develop life-long learning skills.

In addition to developing academic skills, we work to develop good individual character and citizenship in every student. A school with a positive climate is one where students and staff are kind, caring, and help one another in every way possible, every day.

Numerous studies show that children do better in school when their parents/guardians are involved and take an interest in their education. Parents/guardians, please take advantage of the many opportunities you will have to be involved in your child's education and maintain an open line of communication with your child's teachers throughout the entire school year.

Students, come to school prepared to be engaged and challenged by your teachers each day and they will help you achieve your personal best. At Dr. Gerald H. Woehr Elementary School, we are committed to helping every child, every day, whatever it takes.

Sincerely,
Walter Therien
Principal
